Drug Discovery

Drug Discovery at Advinus is presently focused on generating novel small molecule for indications in four therapeutic areas: Metabolic Diseases, Inflammatory Diseases, Pain/Neurodegenerative Diseases and Neglected Diseases of the developing world.

Project oriented multidisciplinary teams, consisting of scientists with knowledge in a specific therapeutic area, biologists, medicinal chemists and pharmaceutical scientists direct programs from concept to lead clinical candidates. Our drug discovery activity generates intellectual property that will be available for licensing at any stage from clinical candidacy onward. Preclinical development and early clinical development are also carried out by the Advinus team, with proven capabilities to generate PoC in humans.

Metabolic Diseases

  • Diabetes
The approach is multifaceted and addresses hepatic glucose overproduction, peripheral insulin resistance and insulin deficiency.
  • Obesity
The focus is on mechanisms involved in abnormal energy intake and expenditure or excessive energy storage to provide safe therapies for weight loss.
Inflammatory Diseases

  • COPD
Our approach aims to alleviate disease by simultaneously lowering inflammation and relieving bronchoconstriction through a single target.
  • IBD
We focus on an approach with action restricted to gastrointestinal tract.
  • Autoimmune Diseases
We aim to discover novel agents that work through T-cell or B-cell mediated mechanisms.
Pain/Degenerative Diseases

Both acute and chronic pain indications are being pursued. Parkinson’s Diseases is our current focus in the degenerative diseases area.
Neglected Diseases

Diseases such as Leishmaniasis, dengue fever, tuberculosis, leprosy and malaria continue to affect the populations of the developing world. Advinus has a dedicated effort to develop novel therapies for neglected diseases.
